Every child in a desk's hard chair
tied to the chairs with duct tape
the clock ticks wild and free
mocking, mocking, mockingly

sweet first breath of summer
waits just a tick-tock away
tick, tock, tock, tick, faster
but the teacher's already gone

Every car parked in the lot
idling, waiting, the hour binds on
parents cracking knuckles, tied
to wheels and office desks

Every child, parent, teacher
listening, tick, tock, click
that f-ing clock that mocks
